Under 7s/9s
OBERON RSL/Mawhood Supa IGA under 7/9s hockey side played their last game for the season on Saturday, going down to a strong and more experienced All Saints.
Meghan, Tanisha and Clare again showed their improving defensive skills, keeping All Saints’ to a minimal score. Daisy had numerous attempts to break away down the sideline, trying to pass off to Shaya and Jodieanne in attack, but the All Saints’ defence was too strong. In the midfield Shiny, Ellie, Ella and Tanesha, stopped a lot of All Saints’ attempts.
After the game the girls received a medal from the Bathurst Association for their efforts throughout the season. This week’s Saul Grading and P and G Varlas Automotive Players’ Player award went to the whole team. A big thank you to all the mums, dads and grandparents for the continued support and transport each week. Well done, hope to see you all next year.
Under 11s
This week the Oberon BWG Under 11s played Saint Pat’s Blue, coming home with a 4-1 win. All the girls fought hard all game and where rewarded with some beautiful team goals.
The girls were marking tight, trapping and passing cleanly, and holding positions. That allowed the team to attack for most of the game and bring home another win. Goal scorers were Danielle Fisher (3) and Caitlin Reeves (1).
This week Oberon's First National Real Estate Players’ Player Award went to Danielle Fisher. Well done Danielle!
The team has finished competition rounds and was unlucky not to gain fourth spot, missing out by just one point. The team will now play off in second-tiered final rounds to decide fifth to eighth spots. Lets do ourselves proud and hold onto our fifth placing leading into the finals. See you all at training on Friday.
Under 13s
The Highland Pine u13d girls defeated Pat’s 4-1 at the weekend. Goal scorers were Shannon (2), Ivy (1) and Tarah (1). Shannon, Keely, Sarah, Tarah , Meg and Beccy played a strong and consistent game. Chloe, Katie, Ivy, Emma and Jessie worked brilliantly together.
All players passed the ball well and combined well to break down the Pat’s defence and it was great to watch. Shannon was tireless all game and was this week’s MPH Players’ Player. Well done Shannon.
The girls have a mid-week game and then next weekend they will be in the semi-finals. Good luck girls. See you at training.
Under 15s
Oberon Trash-Pak Under 15s had a great 4-2 win over Saint Pat’s last weekend.
Shannon Fisher and Sarah McCusker scored two goals each for Oberon.
The whole team played great hockey. At training Jaydem had the girls practising hitting and trapping.
It was great to see their improvement in this area throughout the game.
Goalkeeper Kaitlin, who had the flu the previous week, was feeling much better and saved some great goals.
The game was hard and fast and the girls - Kaitlin, Shannon, Casey, Emily, Courtney, Amy-Ann, Emma, Claire, Leah, Taisha, Jessie and Sarah - worked well together for their win.
This week the Shell Players’ Player went to Shannon Fisher. Congratulations for placing third overall, and good luck for the finals.
