Highland under 11s to contest grand final

11 Sep, 2008 08:27 AM
HIGHLAND Pine under 11's made it through to the grand final on Saturday beating South's 2-1 in an impressive game.

The Oberon girls consisting of Meg, Tarah, Tanisha, Beccy, Danielle, Keely, Sarah, Emma, Ivy, Lydia, Swannie, Chloe and ever consistant goalie Laura all played an excellent game.

Highland Pine’s strong forward line broke through the defence early in the first half with Beccy scoring her first goal for the season. This was backed up by Danielle positioning herself on the posts to score a second goal.

The Highland halves and backs were sound in defence feeding the ball through to our forwards. It was a very nail-biting game with Souths giving it all they had to score in the dying minutes.

This Saturday the girls play St Pats at 10.20am. This will be a very hard game even though Highland has beaten St Pats at our last two clashes.

Thank you to all supporters who have been turning up to cheer the girls

A big thank you to Sue who helped run the girls on and Karen for managing the team and Highland Pine for sponsoring the team.

This is the first time in 20 years that a Oberon Junior Hockey team has made the grand final. Please come along and support the girls on Saturday. Good luck girls. Play like you did last week. See you all there in your red and white.
