B Grade unlucky to go down to Souths

26 Jun, 2008 12:02 PM
Oberon B Grade played South last Sunday and were very unlucky to go down 2-1. Everyone played excellent hockey, with Joc taking out players’ player. Joc played goalie as Rebecca was unable to play on Sunday. Joc’s expert skills and talking guidance and tactics helped our team out tremendously. Jenny played our main back and her talking and guidance really made a big difference to the play of the game. Thanks Joc & Jenny. Jenny, Tracey, Leanne, Sharon, Kim & Emma all played defending halves (switching at times to a back) and what a great defence Oberon had throughout the whole game. These girls did an awesome job marking their South players. Well done girls and keep up this great defence!

Veronica and Nicola played our inners. They defended their player which helped their halves defence breaking the play. They both had great shots to the forward line.

Cindy, Belinda and Kirsty switched the position of playing wing and centre forward and had a difficult time running around to become free from the South defence, but these girls did an excellent job which paid off with several shots at goals (but we missed) and Kim score a beautiful goal off a short corner to level the score 1-all. South were lucky to have their first goal as it bounced off an Oberon player’s foot to slowly roll into the goal and it was awarded. South then scored the second goal late in the second half after our goalie saved several brilliant shots at her, but tripped and fell, which Souths took advantage of and scored.

We would like to thanks our sponsors Cut n' Groove, Moorhead Engineering and the Royal Hotel. Our new shirts and goalie equipment look great! Thanks!

We had two players taking a bye this week, so a big thanks to Freddy & Michelle for sitting out this week and we had Bin out with an injury.

This week we play Waratahs on Saturday at 12.20pm on Turf 1. Good luck!
