Under 11s
THE Oberon BWG under 11s hockey side started their second round with a another convincing win, downing South's One 8-1 at the weekend.
Goals went to Emily Thomas, her first for the season, Emma Oxley, Kaylee Colley, Danielle Fisher (x 3 )and Olivia Sullivan (x 3). All team members were major contributors to these goals with good positional play, good defence and fantastic teamwork on there passing.
Coach Brian was very happy with the way the girls played as a team, and the way the girls all attacked for the ball.
This week’s Oberon's First National Real Estate players player went to Caitlin Reeves. Well done Caitlin! Thankyou to Vanessa Muldoon for becoming the full-time goal keeper. There is no games being played this weekend at Bathurst so, mums and dads, enjoy that sleep in. Training will still be on this Friday.
Under 15s
On June 5 Oberon Trash-Pak Under 15s played Kelso. Oberon was defeated 4-2. Great lead-up work led to the Oberon goals being scored by Sarah McCusker and Jessie Foley.
The coach said the girls were playing well and everyone was doing their job. He encouraged the girls to keep talking to each other, in a positive way and noted that everyone was keeping their position and tackling well.
The Shell Players Player was Courtney Hoolihan.
On June 19 Oberon Trash-Pak Under 15s played Souths. The girls lost to Souths 10-1.
A great goal was scored by Courtney Hoolihan. The half-time score was 4-1.
The girls needed to concentrate on committing to tackles and keeping two hands on the stick and chasing.
The coach said the aim was to get the opposition to run out of space. The forwards were urged to get in front of their player and to enter the circle to try and score more goals.
The girls tried hard but unfortunately the game got away from them towards the end.
Girls, you all give your best every week, so keep up encouraging each other and taking advice from Jaydem. The Shell Players Player was Tanisha Miller.
