Unusually mild weather greeted golfers

28 Aug, 2008 09:52 AM
Unlike recent weeks, the weather was sunny and almost mild for the women golfers as they participated in their own mock Olympic games last Wednesday (August 20th). There was a good turnout, much good humour and some very colourful national outfits. The Division 1 winner in the day’s stableford event was Gail Voerman with 39 points. Runner-up was Joan Graham with 37 points, and Yvonne Collins came third with 36 points.

In Division 2 Mary Miller came first with 35 points, followed by Helen Toohill on 33 points. Lyn Prowse came third with 30 points.

This week a number of our players have been participating in the Blue Mountains Ladies Golf Association annual tournament at Wentworth Falls, and next Monday Oberon will host the Blue Mountains final of the 3BBB Ladies Team Classic event. Next Wednesday (September 3) there will be an 18 hole stroke competition for the monthly medal. The day will also be L’Oreal Day, and eight qualifiers will be selected for the Silver Salver trophy.
