A FIELD of 41 players contested the Oberon men’s golf 18 hole stableford on Saturday with trophies donated by Bob Slattery.
In A grade Mike Carlin was the inner with an excellent round and 43 points. The runner-up was Mick English on 40 points.
B grade honours went to Dick O’Donnell with a countback to edging out Eric Whalan after both players finished with 41 points. Balls for ability went to Keith Cleton, Anthony McGrath, Billy Wilcox, Brian Roberts, Alan Sharp, Peter Ryan and Kevin Whalan.
The sharpshooters had their eyes in for nearest the pin honours, with Barry Lang landing 5.10m on the 1st, Neil Whalan stopped the ball 1.56m from the 7th, Dick O’Donnell took the 9th with 3.58m, and a fine shot on the 17th saw Roger Arrow land the ball 1.40m away.
Harold Lyme led the field on Thursday with Alan Benson, Geoff Evans, Paul Behan, Billy Wilcox, Doug Collins and Laurie Murphy picking up balls.
Next week’s golf is an 18 Hole Stableford for Currumbena Nursery trophies, and an 18 Hole Fourball Stableford Aggregate for trophies donated by Michael Bennett of Lithgow Holden.
Then it’s an 18 hole Stroke with Monthly Medals and putts on August 7, with John Crichton trophies up for grabs.
A reminder that the clubhouse is open on Friday evenings for members to enjoy a little social outing. August 6 will feature the members’ draw which currently stands at $200.
