Over the last two week-ends golfers played the club championships which was sponsored by Dennis O’Connell. The ‘A’ grade winner and club champion for 2008 is Robert McGrath with 307 and the runner up was Al Taggart with 313.
The ‘B’ grade winner was Anthony McGrath with 323 and the runner up was Barry Lang with 332.
In ‘B1’ grade the winner was Kevin McGrath with 363 and the runner up was Doug Collins with 365.
The ‘C’ grade winner was Jack Robinson with 387 and the runner up was John Brien with 389.
The handicap winners were ‘A`’ grade Al Taggart with 281 and ‘B’ grade it was Doug Collins and John Brien with 289.
On Saturday we played an 18 hole stroke for trophies donated by Mick English. We had 52 players and the winner in ‘A’ grade was Barry Lang with 73/60, and the runner up was Zac Elwin with 82/68. In ‘B’ grade the winner was John Fitzpatrick with 87/67 and the runner up was Russell King with 87/68. Nearest to the pin winners were on the 1st it was Barry Lang with 10-60mts on the 2nd it was Mike Carlin with 9-00mts on the 10th it was Kevin McGrath with 4-45mts and on the 12th it was Russell King with 3-73mts. Balls for ability went to Eric Whalan, Anthony McGrath, Reg Cunynghame, Kyall Ryan, Jackson Brien, Billy Kitt and Blake Miller.
On Sunday we played an 18 hole stroke for trophies donated by Peter Ryan. We had 39 players and the winner in ‘A’ grade was Neil Whalan with 82/67, and the runner up was Bob Slattery with 76/69. In ‘B’ grade the winner was Billy Kitt with 87/59 and the runner up was Blake Miller with 96/64. Nearest to the pin winners were on the 1st it was Bob Slattery with 6-20mts on the 2nd it was Neil Whalan with 5-60mts on the 10th it was Bob Slattery with 4-20mts and on the 12th it was JohnHackfath with 1-25mts. Balls for ability went to Col Brett, Doug Collins, Jackson Brien and John Brien.
Thursday’s golf winner was Harold Lyme with 31 points. Balls went to Alan Benson, Billy Kitt, Doug Collins, Russell King, Paul Behan, Peter Dale, Wayne Sellers and Bob Slattery.
Saturday’s raffle winner was Adrian Poulten and 2nd Eric Whalan.
On Sunday we saw the first round of the junior championships which is sponsored by Mangan Haulage. Golf this week will be on Friday. This will be an 18 hole stableford for trophies donated by Dick Foran. On Saturday it will be an 18 hole par for trophies donated by Oberon Garden Services Bill and Margaret Grady. On the 3/5/08 it will be an 18 hole stroke for trophies donated by Hamish Anderson and the monthly medals and putting sponsored by John Brien.
