Golfers brave the wet in trophy round

DESPITE damp conditions 30 intrepid golfers contested an 18-hole fourball par for trophies donated by Jack Robinson and the first round of the fourball par championships on Saturday. Neil Whalan and Harold Lyme were the pairs winners with plus nine. Runners-up were Mick English and Barry Lang with plus eight on a count-back.

Nearest to the pin winners: On the 1st, Dick O’Donnell with 4.55m; On the 7th, Adrian Poulten with 2.35m; On the 9th Jackson Brien with 3.50m; On the 17th, Keith Cleton with 50cm.

Balls for ability went to Dick O’Donnell, Dennis O’Connell, Adrian Poulten, Mike Carlin, Anthony McGrath and Neil Whalan

The Thursday golf winner was Kim Rawlings with 30 points. Balls went to Paul Clarke, Maurice Goldhagen, Neville Kelly, Jack Robinson, John Harvey and Peter Dale.

Saturday raffle winner was Harold Lyme.

Pennant’s update: The A reserve side played Springwood at Springwood and lost six and one and the Kotrum shield side match at Katoomba was a washout.

Golf this week will be an 18-hole fourball par for trophies donated by Scott Rowlandson and the final round of the fourball par championships. On February 28 there will be an 18- hole stableford for trophies donated by Barry Lang
