29 Jan, 2009 09:19 AM
OBERON wom- en golfers were given the opportunity to bring a friend to compete in an Ambrose competition last Wednesday. It was pleasing to see new faces as well as the return of some experienced players whose work commitments normally prevent them from participating in the Wednesday competitions.

A total of 23 players competed in the nine- hole round.

The winners, with 29.5 points, were Elizabeth Mackenzie, Pat Cunynghame. and Lyn Prowse. Second, with 30.5 points, was the team of Joan Graham, Clancy Pye and Charlie Gascoigne. Eliz-abeth Pollock, Colleen Saul and Helen Humphries finished third with 31.5 points.

Nearest to the pin on the 7th hole were Samantha Robinson.

Cathy McIntosh. Lynne Harris and Joanne Moore were nearest to the pin on the 9th.

Next Wednesday there will be an 18-hole stroke event and on the following Wednesday there will be an 18 -hole stableford competition.

These two competitions will also serve as the the first two rounds for the club’s Pat Arrow Trophy event.
