Big roll-up for golf Open

THE Oberon Golf Club Open Day held at the weekend was sponsored by Oberon First National Real Estate, Wills Tyre Centre, Oberon Industrial and Farming Supplies and Foster Australia.

It attracted visitors from Gulgong, Lithgow, Portland, Wentworth, Henbury, Leura, Albury, Yowani, Gungalhin Lakes, Blackheath, Sunnyridge, Hervey Bay, Wentworth Falls, Oatlands, Murrumbridge and Bathurst.

On Sunday 85 players lined up for the 18 hole stroke and stableford.

The A grade scratch winner was Paul Bright of Bathurst with 71 off the stick. Runner-up was Barry England with 73. The handicap winner was Toby Mulholland of Henbury with 69 net on a count-back from Scott Rowlandson. The stableford winner was Mick English with 37 points the runner-up was Mike Carlin with 36.

The B grade scratch winner was Ted Healey of Lithgow with 81 off the stick and the runner-up was Steve Collins from Gungahlin Lakes with 83.

The handicap winner was Kevin Tooke of Blackheath with 69 net on a countback from Mick McKechnie also with 69 nett. The stableford winner was Col Brett with 37 points and the runner-up was Noel Kitt of Murrumbridge with 35 points.

Longest drive winner in A grade was Tim Crichton and in B grade it was Hamish Gunning.

The local player aggregate for Saturday and Sunday winner was Mike Carlin with 80 points.

Nearest to the pin winners: On the 7th Zac Elwin; on the 9th Scott Rowlandson and on the 17th Greg Lesberg of Bathurst.

Team event winners: Scott Rowlandson, Russell King, Linore Zamparini and Robert Hayden.

Junior handicap winner was Kyall Ryan. The junior stableford winner was Zac Elwin and the Bradmans winner was Charlie Gascoigne.

First hole shootout winner was Robert Hayden and second was Paul Bright.

On Saturday we played an 18 hole fourball stableford for members. With mixed and ladies we had 71 players. Members winners were Mick Mckechnie and Jack Whittaker with 50 points and the runners-up were Steve Serong and Doug Curry with 49.

Mixed winners were Zac Elwin and Colleen Saul with 46 points and the runners-up was Doug Collins and Vonda Voytilla with 45 points.

Ladies winner were Yvonne Collins and Vonda Voytilla with 45 points.

Nearest to the pin winners: members - Steve Serong and Doug Curry; ladies - Colleen Saul.

The Thursday golf winner was Alan Sharp with 29 points.

Balls went to Ralph Harrison, Wayne Sargent, Peter Dale and Scott Rowlandson.

The 100 Club winners was Maree Arrow and second was Eric Whalan. Golf this week will be an 18 hole stroke for trophies donated by Peter Darcy and also the monthly medals and putting. On December 19 there will be an 18 hole four person ambrose for trophies donated by the Big Trout Motor Inn.
