On the weekend the Oberon 4th grades men had a home game where we played the Pandas.
The Pandas are positioned 1 spot behind Oberon and the team knew a tough game would be forthcoming.
This week the Oberon Warriors got off to a strong start with great control, good talking on the field and a desire to be first to the ball, going up 2 nil in the first 30 minutes of the first half.
With a few changes made to give all team members a run, we lost our momentum and Pandas pounced and scored, this lifted the Pandas and their attacks continued to flow, but without success.
Half time score was 2-1.
In the second half Oberon commenced this period with the starting 11 and immediately took control of the game. The midfield of Dwayne, Andy and Ken was outstanding, and supported well by Steve Perry. The outside backs Craig and Andy crunched the opposition when needed and had strong games. The forwards were given many good balls and scored another 2 goals for Oberon to win 4-1 on a very windy day. The goal scorers were Mitch, Rod, Matt and Dwayne. Another great game in goals by Fuzzy who will be missed next weekend, but our loyal clubman Swanny will be there to fill in.
Thanks to all the supporters who cheered on the team, it was a cold day to be outside.
This game was the end of round one and the team has now won 5, drawn 3 and lost 1 placing the team strongly in the top 4.
Next weekend we play at home against Bathurst United.
Training is Friday night at 6.30pm, look forward to seeing everybody there.
