Soccer numbers on the rise

27 Mar, 2009 09:22 AM
OBERON United soccer teams hosted Churches United teams for the second round of the United Challenge at the weekend.

Players were given a break between each quarter because of the warm conditions.

There was a better roll-up for mixed women's matches but with one more hitout before the season starts, all players are urged to attend training and next week’s game.

Numbers were also up for the men’s mixed matches with the fourth grade fielding a full team for the first two quarters. There was also a near full squad for the second grade men’s match, with some backup from the fourth grade to help with the interchange.

A committee meeting will be held this Friday from 7pm at the Royal Hotel. Players and parents are welcome to attend.

Next weekend, OBERON will host Bathurst United for the last round of the United Challenge.

This time the matches will be played on Saturday afternoon at the Recreation Ground.

The women’s mixed game will kick off at 1pm, and the men’s mixed will kick off at 3pm. Players must be be at the ground 30 minutes before kick off. A barbecue will be held at the Royal Hotel after the matches, where players and supporters will discuss the upcoming season.
