On Sunday, a weakened team travelled to Bathurst to play one of the leaders of the competition.
Due to work commitments, illness and family events the Oberon 4th grade Warriors comprised of mainly new players to the club but they came away with a 1-1 result against Bathurst United with a team full of youth and speed.
This was a gutsy effort, and all should be proud, the opposition were a good side.
This team has the capabilities of doing very well this year, with time spent at training and on the field, the passing will get better, understanding and getting to know each other will improve.
The last 20 minutes of the game with a one man bench, these Warriors did not give up and all should be proud.
Ken showed this attitude with his endless running, always running back to help in defence, a man of the match effort. Jarrod played left back and was well supported by his elder statesmen preventing many attacks by scrambling and shifting across field in defence.
In time I can see the new combination of our strikers scoring many goals together, Mitch and Rod keep up those touches and goals will come, the support showed by your team mates in the midfield was inspiring.
Training is 6.30 on Friday night and I look forward to seeing you all there, we will review the game and have some time for feedback after training.
