Oberon Cyclist Courtney Puzicha went to the Australian junior track championships at the Olympic Velodrome at Bankstown for the NSW state team from the 25th to 30th March 2007.
She was pretty remarkable with all her efforts considering she only missed out on a bronze medal in the team sprint by 2/100th of a second. She did her job by recording the fastest first lap time.
Courtney achieved personal bests in her 200m flying lap by 2 seconds, 500m time trail by 2 seconds and recorded her fastest time for the 2000m pursuit. Courtney was very fast the whole week & recorded some of the fastest first lap times.
The state coaches were very impressed with her first national representation with her efforts and times.
Courtney also competed at the Dubbo track Open Carnival the weekend before the nationals and came away with two 2nd places and three 3rd places.
She is now preparing for her first full road racing season which kicked off at the weekend in Bathurst where Courtney took part in the criterium event under the weather thanks to a virus, which also kept her out of Sunday’s 77km road race.
Her next major event will be the Wagga Tour kicking off in May.
We need to mention a thanks to Winning Edge Cycles (Bathurst) for making sure Courtney’s bikes were in tiptop working order and for sponsoring her.
