Myers cracks a classy 69 to help side to victory

A HANDY cameo from returning left-hander Kyle Myers has helped ORC to a third win from four matches in Bathurst District Cricket Association second grade on Saturday at Morse Park 2.

Myers cracked a classy 69 in his first match for the club since playing in their successful first grade grand final side in 2007-08, this time helping the Tigers chase down their target of 189 with five wickets in hand.

Earlier Bushrangers had put themselves in a good position for a massive score when Paul Jenkins and Josh Knox put on 133 for the second wicket to move their team to 1-153 with nine overs to bat.

However, a middle-order collapse saw their hopes of a 220-plus total evaporate in quick time, as they lost their next seven for just 35.

Jenkins (58) and Knox (70) were the only batsmen to make it past 17 during an innings that will go down as a missed opportunity.

Gareth Sutton was the key with the ball for ORC, taking 3-33 from seven, while fellow opener Adrian Mielke claimed 2-32 from his eight.

In reply, ORC were steady from the beginning as Adam Bromfield (33) put on 63 for the first wicket in 15 overs, before Brendan Inwood (25) upped the run rate alongside Myers to take it to 1-121.
