 Championship win for Justin

Championship win for Justin

17 Dec, 2009 08:23 AM
In Kilsyth, Victoria Justin Beattie stormed home to win his second consecutive Victorian BMX Championship which was held on November 29. His sister Brianna also achieved a creditable fourth place in her 12 year girls event.

There were 47 riders in the 10 year Boys Challenge class – mostly Victorians, but several riders came from other states to test their skills against Justin who is the current Victorian, NSW and Australian Champion.

After five preliminary elimination races the gate dropped in the final and so did the rain. Justin shot into the lead and held it to the second last corner where the second and third riders forced him high, so he came out of the corner in third position. That’s when Justin turned on the after burner – beat them to the last corner and over the finish line. Podium finish was - Gold NSW, Silver Victoria, Bronze South Australia.

This year has been an encouraging year for Brianna. She has achieved a #3 NSW state plate, a #4 Victoria state plate and has been selected for the NSW State Talent ID squad.

In 2009 Justin and Brianna have raced in Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide and Canberra. Justin’s seen many BMX tracks and made many friends. His racing ability was recognised by the One Bicycles factory team when they invited him to join their junior racing squad. And his proudest moment came when he helped his team win the NSW State Corporate Team Championship at Maitland in October this year. His race record for this year is 10-Year Boy Champion of Sydney XBR Summer Series; NSW Southern Region; NSW State Titles (Third consecutive year); Victorian State Titles(second consecutive year); Australian Titles; and is now ranked as #4 in the world after that event was held in Adelaide this year.”

Next year Justin hopes to be selected to ride for Australia against New Zealand in the Annual Trans Tasman Mighty Elevens Team.
