OBERON businesses are gearing up for another aggressive year of tipping in the Oberon Review Footy Tipping Competition, which will begin March 1.
The big winner in 2011, Adam Cavanagh, of Oberon Glass and Windows, is eager to get into this year’s competition.
Adam is a huge rugby league supporter and will be using some strategies to try and get to the top of the podium again in 2012.
He said he takes injuries, homeground advantage, and rival teams into account when choosing his tips each week. If in doubt he tips the home side.
Besides supporting rugby league, Adam said anothergreat part of the tipping competition is that it raises the profile of his business, as the footy tipping page in the Review is a popular read for locals eager to see who is winning each week.
Adam said that he received a huge amount of feedback from the competition, with many customers making a comment on his tipping for the week.
“People would come in and say: ‘Oh, you are on top this week’,” he said.
Adam is a Canberra Raiders fan.
“People love seeing who is on top or who will get the wooden spoon,” Adam said.
The 2012 Telstra Premiership will kick off in Newcastle on Thursday, March 1 with Wayne Bennett against his former club St orge Illawarra.
