Vouchers win support

25 Jun, 2009 10:24 AM
OBERON residents have spent $100,000 in the local community by buying Oberon Business Assoc-iation Shop Local Vouchers.

The vouchers are available at Oberon Council, the Oberon Post Office and Arrows Newagency. They can then be used at any local business to purchase any goods or service.

The vouchers are then redeemed by the Oberon Business Assoc-iation.

Brian Dellow of the Oberon Business Association said that the vouchers are a way of keeping money in the town and encouraging local business.

He said the vouchers can be used in every type of business, from service stations to restaurants to clothing stores.

Mr Dellow said the Shop Local Vouchers are easily purchased, and can be given as gifts or even as bonuses for employees.

That meant local money is going back into the community instead of being spent elsewhere.

The Oberon Council, Oberon Post Office and Arrows Newagency were recently recognised by the Oberon Business Association for their contribution through selling the vouchers and encouraging the community to shop locally.
