Vandals stoop to new low

17 Jun, 2010 09:05 AM
The sisters at St Joseph’s Convent are the last people you would ever believe to be the targets of vandals, but it seems vandals in Oberon have stooped to a whole new low level.

The sisters awoke on Monday morning to find that several panels in their garden fence had been kicked in and were lying in the convent’s garden beds.

This spate of vandalism follows a similar event several weeks ago where, further down the street, a number of panels of the St Joseph’s School fence were damaged and kicked in.

One of the residents of the convent, Sister Maureen, said it was very disappointing that people in the Oberon community were committing acts of vandalism.

“It is very sad that people in Oberon have so little respect for other people’s property,” she said.

“Everyone should respect every other person and their property.”

Oberon Police are currently investigating the vandalism and are asking anyone with information to contact them on 63361000.
