ANOTHER aged care provider is interested in becoming involved in the proposed aged care facility in Oberon.
A representative from Uniting Care, which is the largest provider of aged care in Australia, visited Oberon last Friday to become acquainted with our current aged care situation and plans for an aged care facility.
The representative was given all available data and information regarding Oberon's aged care situation, which will then be compiled into a report to be presented to Uniting Care's management.
Chairman of the Oberon Aged Care Committee Ian Whalan said that the representative was taken on a tour of the proposed site for the facility and visited Hathaway Cottages.
Mr Whalan said that the representative showed real interest in becoming involved, but that it will take several weeks to get a response from Uniting Care about their position regarding Oberon's aged care.
Mr Whalan said that it is very positive to find that other aged care providers are interested in Oberon's aged care situation.
“The more providers we can get to look at it, the more options we have to get the facility we want,” he said.
Mr Whalan said he is also in the process of seeking out other potential aged care providers.
In the meantime, Mr Whalan said that he has requested a meeting between the Oberon Aged Care Committee and Oberon Council to discuss, and hopefully resolve, concerns that were raised at the aged care meeting and seniors week celebrations in March, such as the small number of non-bonded beds available in the proposed facility for Oberon's aged population.
“We are waiting for the meeting with council to find a solution to those problems,” he said.
