 Star sets hearts aflutter

Star sets hearts aflutter

V8 supercar superstar James Courtney set the hearts of racing enthusiasts and women fluttering on Monday when he visited Oberon after an exciting weekend on the Mount in the Bathurst 1000.

Courtney and his co-driver Steven Johnson had a nail-biting race, and were involved in several clashes. Courtney spun out of control after a particularly memorable clash with Alex Davison at Reid Park. Oncoming drivers had to slam on the breaks to avoid a pile-up.

Courtney's 24th place finish resulted from a number of issues with the car, including the engine dropping a cylinder and a clash with another vehicle which caused tyre damage.

Despite having a slightly less successful race this year than last year's podium finish, Courtney was greeted with gusto by a huge line-up of Oberon fans. Employees of his sponsor JELD-WEN were eager to meet the famous driver and to have autographs signed and photographs taken.

No fans were more eager than the girls from the Visitor Information Centre, who were graced with a visit by the racing super star.
