It is a wonder that this year’s freshly announced Oberon Showgirl Sarah Daniel had the time to attend the interview with her very busy and quite inspiring activities and studies, but she certainly is an impressive and promising ambassador for Oberon.
The 19-year-old is currently studying a Bachelor of Nuclear Medicine at the University of Newcastle, after completing her school studies graduating in the top percentile for many of her subjects.
Sarah said one of her reasons for wanting to be involved in nuclear medicine is, as well as dedicating her work to straightening out inequalities in the health care system, she hopes to be able to follow and become involved with patients throughout their journey.
A keen sportswomen, Sarah has participated in local squash and touch football, as well as competitive horse riding.
Sarah also gives her time to charity, such as participating in the City to Surf, hosting Girls Night In, and being involved in blood donation, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea and Shave For A Cure.
Sarah said she was very surprised to be crowned Oberon’s Showgirl at an elegant cocktail event at the Oberon Golf Club last Friday, attended by over 50 people.
Four local hopefuls were vying for the coveted crown, but Sarah was the winner of the prize package of a personal development weekend at Dubbo, $250 in prize money, and a helicopter ride at the Oberon Show, which were sponsored by Oberon Council.
Kellie Gracey was announced as this year’s Runner Up and will assist Sarah at the show awarding prizes.
All entrants received a lovely cosmetic basket put together by Oberon Pharmacy.
After fulfiling her duties at this year’s show, Sarah will go on to represent Oberon at the 2011 Zone Finals, and if successful there, will go on to compete at the Sydney Royal Show.
