The main street of Oberon was lit with flashing lights around 3.30am on Sunday, July 11, as police, the fire brigade and ambulance officers attended a two-vehicle accident.

A four-wheel drive vehicle and a ute collided in the street, causing the four-wheel drive to roll onto its roof and skid around 50 metres along the roadway, before coming to rest in the gutter outside Arrows Newsagency.

Police were yesterday still attempting to locate the driver of the four-wheel drive who allegedly left the scene of the accident before police arrived, leaving three passengers behind.

The male driver of the ute and two passengers of the four-wheel drive were conveyed to hospital with minor injuries.

Oberon police believe alcohol was a factor in the accident. .

Yesterday police appealed for any witnesses to the accident to contact them on 6336 1000.
