It's all quiet on the railway front after an agreement was reached last week between Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC), Oberon Council, the Oberon Tarana Heritage Railway and the Oberon Museum regarding the shared use of the Oberon rail yard between the Museum and the OTHR.
The agreement was reached regarding the areas allocated for both the Museum and the OTHR, and that Council will fence the agreed area.
The OTHR will be in control of the car park, as it will be in their allocated area.
The ARTC have agreed to build a fully enclosed skillion on one side of the pavilion owned by the Museum, and an open sided skillion on the other side.
Oberon Council have agreed to arrange transport for a 40 foot container owned by Ray and Laurie McMahon to be placed at the Rail yard for the Museum's collection that is to be moved out of the
station building to make way for the OTHR.
Mr and Mrs McMahon have said that they will also be re-locating the historic jail building so it is located on their allocated area of the rail yard.
Mrs McMahon said they are much better off with the new arrangement and have also had a number of offers of help to move their collection from many volunteers.
Mrs McMahon said despite the changes, the Museum have concerns about the growth of the Museum in the future due to restricted space and buildings.
The Oberon Museum now have until the middle of July to move out of the station building.
