Exactly three years since embarking on an epic researching and writing journey, local writer Wendy Casey is ready to launch her her eagerly anticipated book on the history of rugby league in Oberon.
Wendy finished writing “Tiger Territory - The History of Oberon Rugby League” in June. She said the 344-page hardback book recounts Oberon's rugby league past as far back as records were made of Oberon's involvement in the sport.
The book includes the stories, experiences, and memorabilia from players, supporters and coaches, as well as interviews with 35 players and supporters.
There is also a forward by rugby league superstar Craig Bellamy, who began his career in Oberon.
Wendy said that she has enjoyed every moment of researching and writing the book. Initially she began the project simply with an interest in history, but she has become very passionate about league through delving into its incredible past in Oberon.
Landers Publishing is printing 1000 copies of the book overseas and they are expected to be available from next month. The book will be launched at the Oberon Tiger's Presentation Night on November 14. Wendy already has a large number of orders for the book from locals and supporters from further afield.
