The Hightop FM Community Radio executive board has been formed at a meeting on Monday night.
Mike Massey has been voted President of the Board, with David Stein as Vice-President and Public Officer, Anne Russell as Treasurer, and Tanya Minto as Secretary.
Sub Committees were also formed at the meeting, and Radio logos and subscription and donation forms were also discussed.
The official application for a Temporary Community Broadcasting Licence (Annual licence) is in its final stages and planned to be completed by the next meeting. It may take up to four months for the decision to be announced.
The station is also in the process of applying for funding from the Woolworth's and CWA Community Grant, which is up to $3000, and also investigating other Federal and State Government funding.
From here, the plan is to obtain support and funding from sponsors and find a premise for the Radio station, and to commence test broadcasts in October 2009 in order to have the radio station up and running in December 2009.
The radio station are asking for major stakeholders in Oberon to assist by writing Letter of Endorsement for the radio station as soon as possible.
“It’s imperative that we receive endorsements to add weight to the claim for a broadcasting license,” said Mike Massey, President of the Executive Board.
The next meeting will be held on Monday the 4th of May 2009 beginning at 5:30pm at the Oberon Visitor Information Centre. All welcome.
