The broadcasting licence application for High Top FM Radio station has been submitted this week, and a static test broadcast for the radio station is being planned to launch on July 4 live from The Tablelands Way Oberon Farmers Markets.
Mike Massey, Economic Development Officer, said that the program will begin at nine with the news and will include music, sport and many other programs.
“It's about getting exposure, and we get to give it a dry run,” he said.
The logo for the radio station has also been unveiled.
High Top FM is also looking for
members and sponsorship, with annual membership for concession and students under 18 years costing only $10 and full annual membership costing $25.
Mr Massey said being a member of the station brings with it many benefits, including being able to advertise events for free on the radio station.
The radio station are also looking for more volunteers to assist with the
station.
The radio station is also launching a local competition called, “Why I live in Oberon”.
The entrants will be judged according to age group, and the winners of each category will be asked to read their entry at the static broadcast in July from the Farmers Markets.
Mr Massey said the details of the competition are still being decided, but the community is urged to starting thinking about what they love about Oberon.
"Start thinking about it, and stay tuned for more details," said Mr Massey.
The next meeting of High Top FM radio station will be on the June 1 at 5:30pm at the Oberon Visitor Information Centre.
