THERE was an unusual occurrence when the Oberon Pound was broken into recently - a dog was stolen then returned days later.
According to Oberon Council, the perpetrator cut the perimeter mesh of the pound and then cut into the dog enclosure before taking the the male staffy dog.
The break-in was reported to Oberon police.
There were some suspicions about those responsible for the break in and police interviewed several people.
Days later, the dog was found to be back at the pound.
It escorted council members into the pound.
It appeared to be very happy to be back with the buddies it had made at the pound during its earlier stay.
It can only be assumed that the people who took the dog did not wish to pay the fees, such as sustenance fees, which by this time had risen to $480.
Oberon Council said that the police are continuing their investigation into the break-in.
The council praised police for their prompt action in dealing with the matter.
Oberon Council is now seeking a new home for the dog.
Council employees say the dog deserves a good home as it has a lovely, happy nature.
The dog is a lovely tan male staffy that is aged around three to four years.
Because of the special nature of the dog, Council are willing to do a special deal to its new owners by reducing the release fees.
If you would like a very sweet natured and gentle dog, please contact the Oberon Council on 6329 8100.
