Motorcycle rider dies in collision

POLICE are investigating the death of a 45-year-old man following a collision between a motorcycle and bus at Hampton.

The collision occurred around 11am on Saturday, September 20 on the Jenolan Caves Road. The motor cyclist sustained fatal injuries as a result.

Police said the motor cycle caught fire on impact and the fire spread to the bus.

Eight passengers were evacuated from the bus by the driver.

Police and other emergency services personnel attended, including the Oberon Ambulance Service and the Lithgow Ambulance Service.

The Oberon Ambulance Service treated the passengers and driver.

Police said the accident is still being investigated by officers of the Chifley Command Crash Investigation Unit.

The officers will investigate the circumstances of the collision and a brief of evidence will be prepared for the Coroner.
