JUST when all the daffodils are long gone, trees are in their full rustling leaf, nights are getting warm enough to leave a window open and snakes are starting to show their little heads and we all thought summer had finally arrived, what did we get?
Snow.
And plenty of it. That unbelievable Sunday when those in the Oberon district woke to a white morning brought five centimetres of snow to Oberon and at least 10 centimetres to other areas, such as Black Springs.
The week started relatively warm, with temperatures up around 18 degrees Celsius and nights dropping to only 10degrees Celsius.
But with the storms and all that fantastic rain, except for those with hay on the ground, came the cold and winds, sleet and finally snow. But it is not all bad news with close to three inches or 75 millimetres of moisture, in many forms, falling in and around Oberon.
And the rain isn't over, with possible isolated showers and afternoon/evening thunderstorms predicted for Thursday, with light to moderate north to north easterly winds. Showers and more thunderstorms are expected to increase on Friday, accompanied by a north-westerly wind. Saturday should bring showers, but they should clear in the afternoon. As they say: if you don't like the weather in Oberon, wait five minutes.
