Millions for our region region

MEMBER for Bathurst Gerard Martin has said the NSW budget will provide a huge boost to the Bathurst electorate, delivering major investment in jobs, infrastructure and essential frontline services.

“This is a Budget that has identified local priorities, and delivered for the local community,” Mr Martin said.

“The NSW Government has provided investment for the future, funding major local infrastructure projects and stimulating the NSW economy.

Closer to home, the Oberon Council Area has received the following investments:

Roads

1. $1.3 million for the resurfacing of the Bathurst-Oberon Road, Carlwood.

2. $700,000 to resurface the Bathurst Oberon Road with a non-skid surface north of Oberon.

Emergency Services

1. $9,370.44 towards funds for a new truck for Burraga SES Unit.

Water

1. $200,000 for emergency drought relief works for Oberon.

2. $500,000 for renewal and replacement of Fish River Water Supply Filter.

3. $448,000 for the destratification of Oberon Dam.

NSW Treasurer Eric Roozendaal said this year’s Budget invests in jobs to build a better future for NSW. “We building for the future in local communities despite the tough economic times.

“$62.9 billion is being invested across NSW over the next four years in the biggest building program in our State’s history supporting up to 160,000 jobs. This is a major stimulus which invests in the future of our economy.”

Major budget investments for the Bathurst electorate include:

- $34.3 million for road upgrades and traffic management.

- $470,000 for upgrades to local schools under the Principals Priority Building Program.

- $26.82 million for new rail infrastructure.

- $629,664 for community transport services, providing greater access to regular public transport services for those disadvantaged due to physical, social or geographic reasons.

- $2.85 million for upgrades to social housing homes.
