OVER 70 invited guests were on hand to officially open the new Oberon Medical Centre on Saturday afternoon at a ceremony held on site at the Oberon Street practice.
The guests were served drinks and light refreshments before being treated to a tour of the new facility, highlighting the features of the state-of-the-art building, which is hoped will continue to attract medical staff to the town.
“Dr Greg Dargan addressed everyone present, and gave a welcome and an overview of the planning and the processes behind the development of the new centre, and acknowledged everyone who had been involved,” practice manager Loretta Graham explained.
“Bob Bearup was also part of the official proceedings having been invited to open the building, and he gave an official speech to those in attendance,” Ms Graham said.
“Having had over 40 years of experience as a local pharmacist he has been involved with many of the past medical professionals in Oberon, and he gave quite an interesting speech about some of the past doctors, leading right up to the push began for a new state-of-the-art medical centre like this.”
Following his address, Mr Bearup officially declared the centre open.
According to Ms Graham, among the invitees were a number of past Oberon doctors and medical staff, as well as the present employees and the building’s architect and designer.
