Long weekend art show

Following the successful staging of an art show over the last two years, Tarana branch of the Australian Red Cross will be holding its third Annual Art Exhibition over the October Long Weekend.

Opening night will be on Friday October 3 with guest artist Stella Pearse speaking about her career and works.

Stella began tuition at Charles Stuart University Mitchell School of Creative Arts during the 20 years she and husband George ran a property at Mt David on the Campbell’s River. Stella has now been a professional artist for 22 years and a tutor at Charles Sturt University’s summer and winter schools for Creative Arts for 15 years. A graduate of Sydney University, she travelled widely to pursue her learning with many tutors and a variety of mediums and now works in every medium except oil.

Stella is well known as a popular and generous teacher with the university in Bathurst, with the Combined Art Societies of Sydney and the Grafton Artfest. Recently she taught at the respected Willandra Art School in Sydney. Stella’s art work ranges from creative watercolours of Australian birds, flora and fauna, to her well know emus; award winning drawings, pastels contempory acrylic and mixed media landscapes. Her representational and impressionist style of landscapes was developed after two extended trips around Australia.

In the 1990’s she established for her work and that of nearly 100 other artists, in Northern NSW, a large gallery which she owned and operated with her woodcarver husband for four years. Over her painting career, her works have been sought after by collectors from Hong King and Japan, USA and Canada, UK and Europe and are sold in 3 eastern states and the Margaret River in WA, within Australia they are in several corporate collections and Council collections at Lachlan Valley, Bellingen and Cessnock. She has several times been guest artist, and/or judge at regional shows in NSW.

The Tarana Art Show, which will be held at the Tarana Fire Shed, will feature over 200 pieces of artwork from various art forms exhibited including sculpture and wearable art. The exhibition will be open to the public on Saturday October 4 and Sunday October 5 from 10am to 4pm. Delicious Devonshire teas will be served.

Come along and enjoy the works of talented people in a picturesque surrounding for a worthy cause.

All money raised goes to the Australian Red Cross for it Humanitarian works.
