Local singer aiming for the stars

If you turn on the Country Music Channel, you will see a local face among the stars.

Local Mickey Pye’s film clip for his new single, ‘Got the Feeling’, is featuring on the network, which Mickey said is an exciting new style of country-rock likened to the styles on Keith Urban and Brad Paisley.

The song was written by Mickey Pye and produced by Clinton Harn (drummer with the Mickey Pye Band). Clinton has worked previously with acts such as John Mayer, the Noll Brothers and Candice Alley.

The film clip was shot at the JMC Academy in Sydney where Mickey is currently completing a Bachelor of Entertainment. It was produced by the head of television David Summons, who was previously executive producer at Channel Nine, and who has worked on shows such as the ‘Ray Martin Show’ and ‘Hi-5’. It was edited by Justin Lane (JMC Academy), who has previously worked on shows such as ‘Mythbusters’.

The song has already been getting air time on Sydney radio stations such as Cool Country 2KA and ABC Country.

But there is another competition on the horizon for Mickey, after he was selected as a finalist in the Toyota Star Maker Top 20.

Mickey will travel to Tamworth in January to compete in this prestigious national country music competition.

The winner of the competition will receive a huge bundle of prizes, including a big budget recording session with one of Australia’s top producers, an album recording contract with award-winning Compass Brothers Records, a Maton acoustic guitar, the production of a professional video clip of one of the tracks by an award-winning director, and guaranteed performance bookings at a designated list of events organised by Laing Entertainment including the Tamworth Country Music Festival, Perth Muster, Mud Bulls and Music, National Music Muster at Gympie and Penrith’s Museum of Fire, plus a special performance at the Toyota Star Maker Grand Final Spectacular in 2011.

Mickey has finished his studies for the year, and is concentrating on preparing for the Star Maker Competition in January.

You can support Mickey’s new clip by requesting it on the Country Music Channel. The more requests, the higher up the charts he will go.

Mickey said that Oberon’s support is very valuable to him and much needed to survive in this competitive industry. To request his new song simply go to www.countrymusicchannel.com.au and after registering, search for ‘Got the Feeling’ by Mickey Pye.
