TRACY Williams, from the Josephite Foundation No
Interest Loan Scheme (NILS), will be visiting Oberon on the first Monday of each month.
NILS, which is modelled on schemes that have been
operating around Australia since 1981, enables low
income earners to access an alternative form of credit to purchase essential household items. The loans do not attract interest and there are no fees.
Loans are provided to people who have the capacity
to repay the loan in small fortnightly payments.
Up to a maximum of $1000 can be borrowed to purchase household items such as refrigerators, washing machines, televisions, clothes dryers, freezers, furniture, outdoor equipment and medical equipment.
Eligible applicants must have lived at their current
address for six months or more and have a Healthcare
Card or Pensioner Concession Card. There are no credit checks and loans are usually approved within seven working days.
To apply, you must make an appointment for an interview with a Josephite Foundation NILS co-ordinator.
Tracy can be contacted on 0423 655 148 or Kirsty at
the BINC office on 6332 4866.
