Library extends trading hours for the festive season

15 Dec, 2011 04:00 AM
Council’s general manager Leanne Mash is pleased to announce that the Oberon Council Library will be open over the Christmas and New Year period.

Residents can visit the library from 10am to 6pm on Wednesday 28, Thursday 29 and Friday 30 December. The library will also be open on Saturday, December 31 from 10am to 2pm.

“This is a departure from what has occurred over the last few years, when the library has been closed from Christmas Eve and not open again until after New Year’s Day.

“The decision to open over the Christmas and New Year period was an outcome from discussions that occurred with Council earlier this year,” Ms Mash said.

“Given our recent cool snap it will be a bonus for families and the community in general to have another recreational option to add to the list this this holiday period.”

Oberon Council’s Public Library is located on the corner of Dart and Fleming Streets, one block from the main street.

The library provides a great range of services and facilities from adult fiction and non-fiction, to talking books on CD and MP3, and fiction and non-fiction DVDs.

Young children will be delighted by the children’s area with picture books galore, as well as lego, puppets, games, and beanbags.

Primary-aged children and young adults are especially catered for in the library with their own reading room, comfortable reading chairs, study desk and great research and reading materials.
