The Australian Red Cross Blood Service visited Talley’s Lane in Oberon this week to collect blood from generous donors.
Your donation of blood could save the life of many or even help them while going through an operation or surgical procedure. The Australian Red Cross Blood Service is committed to providing safe blood and blood products to those who need them.
On a donation day donors should:
- Be prepared by having plenty of fluids in the 24 hours before donation, especially in warm weather.
- Eat up. Making sure that you do eat something in the three hours before donating.
- Drink up. Please drink at least four good-sized glasses of water or juice in the three hours before visiting the Blood Donor Centre.
- Plasma and platelet (Apheresis) donors. Please drink at least six to eight good-sized glasses of water or juice in the three hours before visiting the Blood Donor Centre.
- Lastly provide identification: Have your photo ID handy.
The Australian Red Cross Blood Service will be in Oberon for two days every three months.
The team’s next visits will be February 20 and 21, and June 5 and 6.
