Hightop FM to debut at yulefest Oberon markets

25 Jun, 2009 10:26 AM
CELEBRATE winter in Oberon at the cool Yule Oberon Farmers’ Markets on Saturday, July 4, in the grounds of St Barnabas Anglican Church Hall.

Stallholders will go all out with festive decorations and Christmas-in-July themes. All the usual quality local produce and crafts will be on sale, plus hearty soup, hot food and the wonderful Fish River Roast coffee.

All this, and Hightop FM will make its first static broadcast! Four hours with the emphasis on local music and content, will showcase what we can look forward to, when Oberon Community Radio is eventually granted a broadcasting licence. The steering committee is working to procure grants to fund studio equipment, and to make the case for a radio licence.

You will also get the chance to win a wonderful hamper made up of goods donated by all stallholders. Tickets will be available at the Hightop FM outdoor studio, along with Oberon Community Radio sponsorship and membership forms.

You will also have a chance to play an active part of this historic moment by entering the FM radio contest! In 50-100 words tell us why you love living in the Oberon area, There are sections for everyone- 5-8 years, 9-12 years, 13-18 years and open categories.

Entries are to be left for the attention of Michael Massey at the Oberon Visitors Centre on or before June 29. Winners will be invited to read their entries “on mic” at the Farmers’ Market broadcast.

Hightop FM is still looking for local talent, so if you or your band has a tape or CD you would like to have played, leave it with Michael Massey at the Visitors’ Information Centre..

Be a part of our town, our markets, our community radio! For more information contact Anne Russell of Hightop FM - Oberon Community Radio.
