Falkirk Daffodil Garden wants
all locals to share in the joys of the
wonderful art of nurturing daffodils.
New owner of Falkirk Lin Boswell has been hard at work with her team, attending farmers and growers’ markets right across the state during March and April, including Goulburn, Leura, Bowral, Bathurst and of course the Oberon Farmers’ Markets, as well as the two day Garden Expo in Orange.
Lin said people in the Oberon area are so lucky to have the optimum conditions for growing daffodils.
"You just can't grow them successfully in many parts of NSW," she said.
"I’ve definitely concluded that Oberon is ‘daffodil central’ as we have such ideal conditions for growing these delightful spring flowers."
Lin said Falkirk has received great local support, especially from those at the Easter Saturday Farmers’ Market.
Lin and her team are encouraging locals to become as enthusiastic and passionate about growing daffodils as they are.
For the first time, Falkirk will be
conducting a daffodil workshop at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday of the next two weeks to enable people to learn how to create a beautiful pot display of daffodils for spring.
"I'm hoping to encourage new daffodil growers to learn and have a go planting daffodil bulbs,” Lin said.
“If you live in the Central Tablelands area it should almost be a requirement that you be able to grow a daffodil, so we want everyone to learn how easy and joyful daffodils can be."
The $35 per person cost of the workshop will include detailed instructions, a pot, soil, your own selection of 10
daffodil bulbs, Devonshire tea and lots of good company.
Get some friends together or come on your own, bring Mum on Mother’s Day and create a living gift to enjoy in spring. Bookings are essential and numbers are limited. Call Falkirk on 6336 1282 to reserve a place.
Falkirk will also be open for the next two weekends, May 1-2 and May 8-9, for anyone wanting to secure a last-minute daffodil bulb purchases at discounted prices.
"We have sold out of a few varieties but still have a very good selection for those late buyers, particularly bulk purchases of Mixed Daffodils," Lin said.
“Drop by Falkirk ... and enjoy all the pleasures of growing daffodils!”
