TREVOR Hawkins has just enjoyed every motor racing fan’s dream weekend – three free tickets to the corporate box at the Sydney 500 at Homebush Bay and a hot lap with Craig Lowndes.
The tickets came courtesy of a Vodafone competition run in the Daily Telegraph.
“You had to write in 25 words or less why you wanted to do a hot lap with Craig Lowndes,” Trevor said.
“My entry ended up more like a poem, and my wife dropped it in to the Vodafone shop in Bathurst.
“When I came inside on Tuesday afternoon I noticed I had missed a call on my phone, so I rang the number back and found out I had won the competition, which included three tickets to the corporate box for three days and a hot lap with Craig Lowndes on Friday afternoon.”
So how did he decide who to invite to accompany him?
“As it happened, at lunchtime the same day I said to my wife we should try to spend more time together as I work weekends and she works during the week,” she said.
“So my wife came with me and my uncle lives in Sydney, so we stayed with him and took him with us ... even though he’s a Ford man!” Trevor said.
The hot lap with Craig Lowndes and the Cold Chisel concert were the highlights of the weekend.
“We got to meet Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes and enjoy a glass of champagne with them on Sunday afternoon, as well as being given the opportunity to hold the driver’s championship trophy,” he said.
