Grant helps to rejuvenate amenities

25 Jun, 2009 10:25 AM
The amenities at Oberon’s recreation reserve has had a huge facelift, thanks to $100 000 promised to Oberon in the 2008 Budget by Member for Macquarie Bob Debus.

The amenities were known previously to be in a poor state, with cold water and no electricity, and a target for vandals.

Work has been continuing for some time at the amenties, with improvements such as new roofing, new tiling, rendering of the outside of the building, a new storeroom, additional toilets and showers with hot water, new access points, and painting being carried out.

“It will be a facility that the town can be proud of when visiting teams come,” said Mayor Keith Sullivan.

Mr Sullivan said the work being done is part of assessing and upgrading of public facilities that is being carried across the Oberon Council Area, including surrounding villages.

Mr Sullivan said these upgrades to public facilities will help increase tourism.

The improvements to the recreation reserve amenities are expected to be finished in a matter of weeks.
