Golden girls from visitor centre visit Tassie for national awards

11 Mar, 2010 08:00 AM
They may not have won at the National Tourism Awards, but the girls from the Oberon Visitor Information Centre are still smiling.

Tasmania didn’t know what had hit it when the girls arrived, along with senior staff and mayor Keith Sullivan, for the prestigious National Tourism Awards.

Far from being too disappointed, the famous Oberon Centre is honoured just to have made it to a national level in the Best Information Centre category, particularly taking out the State Awards.

The winner of the Best Information Centre in Australia was Brisbane, which is a very large centre complete with 68 volunteers and a huge staff.

The girls wish to thank the community, council and Mayor for their support.
