The Oberon and Villages Summer Festival, supported by Oberon Council, The Tablelands Way, and Blue Mountains Lithgow & Oberon Tourism, will begin on Friday, February 10 with a fantastic program of events and attractions planned over two weeks.
The Festival is a chance for visitors to rediscover simple pleasures, sharing the lifestyle, history, culture, produce, secrets, stories and hospitality of the Oberon Circle of Villages, a part of The Tablelands Way experience.
Oberon Council’s tourism development officer, Jennifer Youman is thrilled to see the festival opening for 2012.
“The festival is jam-packed with lots of great events and activities showcasing the best of our local area. With the Steam and Vintage Fair, local Farmers Markets, music concerts at Jenolan Caves and the Oberon Agricultural Show, there is something for everyone, whether you are a local resident or a visitor from overseas or interstate,” she said.
The Summer Festival will kick off with the Community BBQ on Friday, February 10 from 5pm at the Oberon Rally Ground.
Drop by to view amazing exhibits that highlight Oberon and Australia’s past at the 2012 Highlands Steam & Vintage Fair on Saturday and Sunday, February 11 and 12.
Opera in the Caves, presented by The Underground Opera Company, will captivate visitors at Jenolan Caves on Friday and Saturday, February 17 and 18 February, and the Oberon Agricultural Show, now in its 112th year, will showcase many new features, along with old favourites such as rides, fireworks, yard dog trials, animal nursery and nightly entertainment. The show will take place on Saturday and Sunday, February 18 and 19.
