Farmers Market has all the gifts you need

Already fretting about Christmas presents?

Need something unique to buy someone special this Christmas?

Get along to The Tablelands Way Farmers Markets this Saturday.

You will be spoiled rotten with a huge range of wonderful local produce, including fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh bread, cakes and pies, local homemade relish and jams, cool climate wines, not to mention freshly roasted coffee!

Even better, the range of jewellery, knitted goods, beautiful alpaca products, plants, art and craft and many other goodies means you will be able to find a perfect gift this Christmas.

Amid browsing and listening to music, local news and interviews from Hightop FM's static broadcast, drop by the Oberon Rotary stand and grab a delicious hot lamb roll with lovely local relish.

For a special treat, backyard composting demonstrations are also coming to this weekend’s farmers markets.

Come and learn about how composting can help you grow good food. Compost improves the soil fertility and structure, increases its ability to hold moisture, uses all the food and garden waste that would other wise be lost to your garbage bin. Most importantly of all, compost makes your plants and veges grow bigger and better and it can reduce the need for fertiliser and pesticides.

All around it is a winner and only requires a small sunny corner of the backyard. If you would like to know more, Centroc’s “That's a Good Idea!” team will be along with their “Grow your own Compost” kits.

The kits contain all the information you need to set up and maintain a backyard compost heap or bin; how to set up and maintain a worm farm and how to best use mulch in your garden. The kits also come with biologically active compost that helps kick start an ailing heap or activates a new one.

Best of all the kits are free, so come on down to the Farmers Market and talk to Rachael about your compost.

Get in early for Christmas- see you early at the markets.
