It was a day for young and old
to come together on Anzac Day and remember those who have experienced the horrors of war and made the ultimate sacrifice for the way of life we enjoy today.
This year's Anzac Day was a very sombre and respectful affair in Oberon when more than 150 people gathered in the cold and wet dawn for the Dawn Service.
Dawn services were also held in other locations across the district, including a service at the O'Connell Avenue of Trees and a service at the Tarana War Memorial.
A huge street parade, which is growing by the year, included war veterans, police, fire fighters, members of council, school children and locals. They marched from the Council Chambers to the RSL War Memorial.
Here the group met for the main
service, which included a hauntingly beautiful sounding of The Last Post by Tim Graham.
The Oberon War Memorial was almost covered with wreaths placed by school children, Oberon Mayor Keith Sullivan, President of the Oberon Sub Branch Bill Wilcox, family and friends of war
veterans and other members of the
community.
President of the Oberon Sub Branch Bill Wilcox thanks everyone for
taking part and for making an effort to remember those who went to war and fought for our freedom.
Lest we forget.
